First Time Breeder Promotion Program
The Registry would like to congratulate the following first time breeders that participated in the 2014 First Time Breeder Program:
Our Diamond In The Sky
The first time breeders program made us realize that our love and passion for the American Saddlebred came with a particular devotion to foals. We were directed by Steve Hanks to seek the genetic expertise of Fred Sarver. We were so thrilled with Fred's mentorship that we purchased two additional broodmares from Fred. Our appreciation is also extended to Sheila Wringler, president of the Carolinas' Futurity for her guidance in promoting Our Diamond In The Sky, aka "Thor". Every day, Thor and our broodmares bring us immeasurable joy and they make our hearts smile! We are so grateful to the First Time Breeders program for it has heightened our commitment to this most outstanding and noble breed.
Mid-Knight’s Irish Dream
The first time breeders program gave me the opportunity to breed to a truly exceptional stud that I normally wouldn't be able to afford. Instead I bred my mare to a stud that I wanted to breed to for a while now and we put a very beautiful black filly on the ground.
My experience with the first time breeders program was good and gave me a lovely colt by Mont Bleu. Bada Blue was foaled April 13th, 2015 and been a joy to raise. I would do it again!
From Russia With Luv!
So I want to say I do think the first time breeders program is wonderful for those who are wanting to take a step into being part of our saddlebred program and registry. It really helps with the fact that it let us get our foot in the door. I definitely think it should continue that way once people get their first step in they get a taste of what being part of the registry and breeding program can be and how rewarding it is. Thank you for the opportunity. The photo was taken when I showed her in the Indiana Weanling Futurity and she took 4th out of 17 in the Amateur and 10th out of 36 in Open. She won the yearling class in the Texas Futurity.
What the First Time Breeder's Program has done for me was open my eyes to the other ways of being involved with the American Saddlebred industry. My mom has always bred horses, so I knew what type of commitment it took. When I chose to participate in the First Time Breeder Program, it was more or less to find a more structured but less expensive way to stay involved with the American Saddlebred industry as I was getting my career going and my own family started. I can definitely say that I will be breeding horses in the future. I had such an amazing experience watching “Slammer” grow from a weanling into a yearling and soon-to-be 2-year old. Although I did not show him this year, he had a very successful show season as a weanling, finishing his year as the Amateur Weanling Champion at the Wisconsin Futurity Horse Show. The knowledge that I gained from this program has shown me how crucial breeding is to keep our American Saddlebred industry flourishing. Thank you.
The First Time breeders program was a dream come true for my wife and I. Being involved in the breed for over a decade, we thought the idea of breeding our mare CH Broadway's Mamma Mia! Was just wishful thinking. This program allowed us to pursue a dream we wouldn't have been able to afford before. We are truly grateful to the American Saddlebred Registry and all of the stallion owners who allowed these American Saddlebred dreams to come true.
