Joe Millionheir
Joe Millionheir is a 15-year-old registered American Saddlebred owned by Barbe Smith’s Cascade Stables of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was bred by John and Tammie Conatser and is sired by multiple world’s grand champion sire WC Supreme Heir. His dam, Callaway’s Caretta, is a daughter of world’s grand champion sire WCC CHCaramac and is a half sister to WCC CHCallaway’s Winning Number and WCC Callaway’s Will’s Countess, among others.
Though bred in the purple, Joe Millionheir was not shown until two years ago. Not every Saddlebred is destined to star in the performance arena and Joe is the perfect example of a horse that found his niche later in life. This wonderful dispositioned gelding has proven to be a once in a lifetime horse for 12-year-old Christopher Malony who competes in the exceptional rider division. Christopher has competed in the UPHA Exceptional Challenge Cup National Championship with Joe for the past two years and was crowned the 2017 UPHA Exceptional Challenge Cup Level 2 National Champion.
Joe has not only strengthened Christopher's riding skills, but has also given Christopher the confidence to be more outgoing and independent. Christopher makes sure that Joe has his daily treats and lots of attention before he leaves the stables. Joe takes care of Christopher and Christopher takes care of Joe. Though several other riders from Cascade Stables have shown Joe Millionheir with success in the hunt seat and equitation divisions, he has a special bond with young Christopher Malony. It seems as if Joe knows whether it is Christopher riding him or one of the show riders, and he appears to prefer Christopher!
