An American Saddlebred Trainer Risks Life to Save Horses from Trailer Fire
Published Date: Oct 04, 2018
Granville, New York-based American Saddlebred and Morgan trainer Jaisen von Ballmoos of Fairview Stables endured one of every horseman’s biggest fears Tuesday, October 2nd. While shipping to Morgan Grand Nationals in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma his trailer became engulfed in flames while traveling through Missouri on 44 West. Von Ballmoos heroically rushed into the fire repeatedly until he ensured he got each of the six horses he was hauling off the trailer. Unfortunately, one horse, a yearling, was lost later due to the horrific incident. In addition to the young colt, the trailer and all equipment were lost in the flames. Von Ballmoos himself is now dealing with injuries and burns sustained from his selfless actions and will be enduring personal medical costs.
