ASHA Youth Scholarships

Since 1991, the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to youth involved with American Saddlebreds. Each year, ASHA recognizes its members in grade 11 or higher, age 21 and under, on the basis of academic success, financial need, extracurricular activities, including community service, involvement with American Saddlebred horses and personal references. An interview may be included in the selection process, and applicants are asked to write an essay, which includes information about school experiences, special interests, hobbies and ASHBA activities.

The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage, support and recognize participation in all aspects of the American Saddlebred industry, as well as to strengthen the American Saddlebred industry and breed through education.

2019 Scholarship Recipients Kennedy Wilson, Haley Krupnick, Natasha Adams, Kaeli McCarty, and Cassidy Buchanan.

Scholarships are awarded only to high school graduates or those students whose graduation is imminent. Applications must be received by April 30 of the year in which the applicant wishes to receive the scholarship (has been extended to June 1 for 2020 only). The scholarship money will be paid directly to the institution, university, college or trade school for post-secondary educational expenses.
