AMERICAN SADDLEBRED HORSE ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE PURPOSES 

 

Breeders Committee (Association and Registry)

Advise and consult on all matters related to breeding.  Develop incentive and support programs for breeders.  Recommend and screen candidates for Breeders Awards.

 

Equine Welfare Committee

Identify state and national organizations as part of a rescue referral program for membership; evaluate and apprise the Board of proposed legislation (positive or negative) affecting the Saddlebred industry;  seek to affiliate ASHA with prominent industry groups, i.e., AHC; recommend ways that ASHA can be more proactive regarding equine health and welfare issues.

 

Finance Committee (Association and Registry)

Evaluate current financial status; recommend procedures and policies; initiate budget development; report recommendations to Officers and/or Board.

 

Human Resources and Compensation

Review personnel and compensation issues following consultation with professional staff and advise the board as necessary on policies.

 

Nominating Committee

Solicit, screen, select, and recommend slate of nominees to the Executive Committee in accordance with Bylaws/rules.

 

Pleasure Disciplines Committee

Review/recommend rule changes and other matters of interest affecting the pleasure horse division (excluding Hunter sections) and its exhibitors.

  

Youth Committee (Including Auction and Scholarship)

Assist in the planning and implementation of ASHA youth programs, including clubs, awards, junior judging, find-raising events, and annual Youth Conference.

 

Auction - Assist in the planning and execution of the ASHA Youth Auction and Raffle.

Scholarship - Evaluate and administer the ASHA youth scholarship program.

 
 
 
 
 
 

AMERICAN SADDLEBRED REGISTRY COMMITTEE PURPOSES

 

Grand National Committee

Evaluate and make recommendations regarding rule changes and other matters to ensure program viability as national prize program with broad appeal.

 

Kentucky & National Futurity Committee

Evaluate current rules for entry and showing in ASR administered futurities; make recommendations for needed changes.

 

Registry Committee

Review Bylaw amendments and rule changes proposed by members, staff or others before presentation for consideration; review cases and interpret ASR rules as they may apply to registry transactions; act as a review/hearing committee; review rules to approve ASR registration of foreign horses.

 

Sport Horse Committee (formerly International Disciplines)

Develop opportunities for Saddlebreds in International Disciplines to compete in both all-breed and Saddlebred events.Disciplines of Dressage, Eventing, Jumping, Driving, Endurance, Reining, Valuting and emerging disciplines. 

 

Standards & Rules Committee (Association and Registry)

Review the standards of the breed; comment on changes or trends, and raise a voice when deviations from the standards occur; review the standards and rules under which we show and recommend changes.

 

State Futurities Committee

Make recommendations on rule changes and other matters pertaining to the success of ASR affiliated futurities.

 

Sweepstakes Committee

Evaluate and make recommendations regarding rule changes and other matters to ensure program viability as a national prize program with broad appeal.
