The ASR Sweepstakes awarded more than $179,000 in prize money in 2011. Also, courtesy of the Kentucky Breeders Incentive Fund (KBIF), more than $470,000 has been awarded to breeders of Kentucky-bred American Saddlebreds competing in the ASR Four-Year-Old Sweepstakes. To be eligible for KBIF, a horse must meet certain criteria, including being foaled in Kentucky, sired by a stallion standing in Kentucky at the time of service, and bred by a Kentucky resident. Kentucky Saddlebred Owners and Breeders Association membership is required prior to competing. Horses must have been nominated to the ASR Four-Year-Old Sweepstakes by the nomination closing date of March 1 of the horse's three-year-old year.
