Saddlebred World Loses Susan Sloat

Lexington, Kentucky - Susan (Sue) Sutton Sloat, 70, of Hopewell, Virginia passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012.

Sue jointly instituted the Kentucky Winter Tournament program sensing the need to introduce Saddle Seat riding to the unknown. Sue led a riding school program at Larkspur Farm in Simpsonville, Kentucky, along with her husband, Dale. 

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Frederick and Bernice Perry Sutton; and a son, Lee Allyn Sloat. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dale A. Sloat; son, Jeffery Edwin Sloat; grandson, Dallyn Sloat, both of Shelbyville, Kentucky; brother, Edwin and Corky Sutton of Akron, New York; twin brother, Louis and Susan Sutton, of Alito, Illinois; sister, Sylvia and David Ross, of Akron, New York; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Susan Sloat's name to Dream Catchers Therapeutic Riding, 10120 Fire Tower Road, Toano, Virginia 23168. Condolences may be registered at
