North Carolina State Championship Horse Show News

Lexington, Kentucky - Show manager Bill Whitley has added several classes to an action-packed week at the upcoming North Carolina State Championship Horse Show.

This always exciting event will be held Wednesday, September 12 through Saturday, September 15, at the Governor James B. Hunt Jr. Horse Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is preceded this week by the North Carolina State Charity Classic on Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8.

The classes that have been added are Three-Year-Old Five-Gaited (Friday morning), Three-Year-Old Three-Gaited (Thursday morning), Three-Year-Old Park Pleasure (Friday afternoon), Walk and Trot Country Pleasure for Riders 17 Years and Under (Wednesday morning), and Walk and Trot Country Pleasure Championship for Riders 17 Years and Under (Friday afternoon).

Also of note is the competitive $1,000 Groom's Class. The grooms will show a horse in-hand on Thursday night to attempt to take home their share of the jackpot!

Also on tap for next week is the retirement of World’s Grand Champion Mother Mary on Saturday night, the UPHA Chapter 12 Hall of Fame Award—Amateur on Thursday night, and the UPHA Chapter 12 Hall of Fame Award—Professional on Saturday night.

Friday will be Friday Fun Night, courtesy of Matt Shiflet Stables and the Iron Horse Band, who will make the Friday night party one not to be missed!

Added Classes for this week’s North Carolina State Charity Classic (September 7 and 8) are Walk and Trot Country Pleasure for Riders 17 Years and Under (Friday night), Park Pleasure Stake (Saturday night), and Walk and Trot Country Pleasure Stake for Riders 17 Years and Under (Saturday night). Horse Videos, Inc. will be the Official Videographer. Nancy Becker of Nicholasville, Kentucky, will serve as the judge of the North Carolina State Charity Classic.
