January 1, 2007 - The ASAoGB wishes all Charter Clubs and their members around the world, a Very Happy and Successful New Year.
Often in Britain the December/January period is dismal and dull with not much happening and plans having to be put on hold for better weather! However, this year has started brilliantly. We have received news that two sponsors are keen to support our efforts. Both are insistent upon remaining anonymous but obviously have strong American connections: one is an international bookseller, the other a top special effects company in the film industry. Their donations will enable us to significantly expand our activities and move up a notch for the Saddlebred in Britain. We are thrilled and look forward to working on our strategy.
In addition, we keenly anticipate seeing last year’s crop of foals coming out in their yearling colors for shows and exhibitions.
First foal from imported mare Wildest Heart and stallion It’s Hammer All Around. Bred and owned by Mr Robin Neal.
Also it is very satisfactory to learn from the publishers that Cheryl’s book “The American Saddlebred” is selling very well on a global basis. It is another aspect of her innovative promotional program that has helped spread the word about our breed. We have received superb feedback from a variety of readers, most saying they had not previously realised what a wonderful and interesting breed it is.
We would also like to congratulate Peter Cowart and She’s A Red Hot Chili Pepper, on their win at Louisville last year. The $10,000 Five-Gaited Mares class also offers Cheryl’s donated trophy in memory of her mare Rare Visions. We have established a permanent portfolio of the winners (which started with Glider’s Star in 2005) to add to the ASAoGB’s extensive Saddlebred archive here in Great Britain.
