Eligibility Requirements:

1. To be eligible, a horse must be a purebred American Saddlebred, registered with ASR or ASHA of Canada.
2. There is no enrollment fee or application.
3. Points will be earned at horse shows recognized by USEF and rated "A" in the Pleasure division during the show year (December 1 through November 30) for which the Award is given.
4. The recorded owner of the horse must be a current ASHA member on the date the class is held in order for the points to count.

Point System:

1. Points earned in one section as defined below cannot be combined with another section (i.e., points earned in Show Pleasure Driving will count only toward the Show Pleasure Driving Award).
2. Number of points a horse can earn is based on the classification of the show and the number of reported entries in a class, as follows:

   2nd Place	2	4

   AAA show	1-9 Entries	10 & Over Entries

3. The classification of a show is based on the number of classes and amount of prize money offered in the Pleasure Division. A – 10 classes, $1,000 prize money; AA – 15 classes, $3,500 prize money; and AAA – 20 classes, $7,500 prize money.
4. Awards will be given for each division in the following sections:

Show Pleasure

 

• Three-Gaited Junior Exhibitor Championship
• Three-Gaited Adult Championship
• Five-Gaited Open Championship
• Driving Open Championship

Country Pleasure

• Three Gaited Junior Exhibitor Championship
• Three Gaited Adult Championship
• Driving Open Championship
• Western Open Championship
• Hunter Open Championship

5. If the horse show does not offer Junior Exhibitor and Adult Three-Gaited Show Pleasure or Junior Exhibitor and Adult Three-Gaited Country Pleasure Championship classes, points will be earned in the Three-Gaited Open Show Pleasure or Three-Gaited Open Country Pleasure Championship class; the age of the rider will determine in which section the points will count.
6. If the horse show offers Junior Exhibitor and Adult Championships for Show Pleasure Five-Gaited, Show Pleasure Driving, Country Pleasure Driving and Country Pleasure Western, points will be earned in both the Junior Exhibitor and Adult Championship classes.

Violations of USEF Rules: If an owner or an owner's agent has been found to have been in violation of the Drugs and Medications Rules at a specific horse show, no points will be earned by the horse in question for that entire horse show. Any other violations of the rules (as adjudicated by USEF) and/or correction of official show results may result in loss of points or Award.

Points are earned by the horse and calculated by ASR. The Saddlebred earning the most points in each section will be honored as the ASR National Pleasure Horse Champion of that section for the Award year.

Awards will be presented at the ASHA Annual Meeting to the current recorded owner of the horse at the time the last point was earned.
